So last sunday I went up to my local track for what they call a “trackcross” event. It’s basically an autocross except its on a real track so you get a lot more space for shenanigans and you don’t have to work the course.

There was a very nice assort ment of cars there, some were legit race cars others were just cosplaying race cars (me.)

I only got one good run in because my serpentine belt decided it wanted to do more with it’s life and left me right before the finish.

I wasn’t trying to be too competitive because I had literally just finished throwing the mini back together a week before.

How are those events? I don’t have a rollbar in my Miata yet, but those are actually pretty close to me in northern Virginia. Are they worth it? Well run ?

For the price I’d say its worth it. There was close to 80 cars there and there was still ample space left over in the pit area. Plus they were very orderly getting the cars on track and running. Although I do feel their tech inspection is a bit lax but that may have been more of a coronavirus thing.

Could you remember anything specific? I’ve been surprised hearing about the variance in standards for tech inspections.

Well they didn’t look at my car too much I think all they really did was glance at the brakes and check the fluids, but I’ve also been there before and they know my car so they may have just been trying to keep everything moving with minimal contact.
